Working in Achro Thar (White Desert)

Achro Thar

Thar Means "Desert" and Achro Thar Means "White desert". Every body knows that water is basic need of life and in desert water sources are limited. Deep well and natural ponds are the main sources of drinking water in desert which is collected by Thari woman from the far flung spots from there home because this hard duty is allocated to woman. The continuous drought of seven years long made situation very terrible. The well are empty and the natural ponds have been polluted.
The dweller of white desert and there livestock (which is only sources of their economy) were compelled to migrate from their motherland.
RWWO surveyed a part of Achro Thar and planed to provide them drinking water through heavy hand pumps called Jiyapo. 40 hand pumps supported by TVO/EC were installed in targeted Villages and now more then seven thousands people and their live stock get drinking water from the Jiyapo Hand pumps.
Having good relations with Thari people, RWWO offered them home school for girl children. It was first chance that school for girls was offered to the people of Thar.
In short after counciling they owned the offer and the first girl home school was opened in this neglected area supported by GFW. Although to other schools for Thari Girls are also ready to be commenced shortly.
In this way the most deprived and ignored area is on a way of development.
