Village
Rawat
This is
a story of peasant community who lived in a village namely Goth Rawat
that was situated on a peace of land that was just like a ditch. In
moon soon season they used to suffer a lot by rainwater and mud. RWWO
motivated them to shift their living place and build a new village.
The research cell of RWWO made a feasibility report and estimate cost
as per house made on new land. Eventually they collected Rs.100000/-
for 4 acres purchased. 40 plots (40 houses) were designed for good
residence and only RS. 2500/- were spent for each plot. Two rooms,
one kitchen, one bathroom and a shade for live stock in each house
were constructed. Bricks, mud walls and total labor was made by community
members. Two wide paths are there and the trees were planted all around
the village. RWWO has launched a community school for the girls and
a functional literacy school for elder women in this new village.
RWWO has also started micro credit program in the village to upgrade
the socio-economic status of village women. RWWO has supported this
village much but we say that all progress they have achieved this
on their own will and self help basis.
